ImageInterview with Isaiah Firebrace (Australia 2017):  Australia's third participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was by young Isaiah who won Australia's 8th edition of the X-Factor. Isaiah performed the song "Don't come easy" in Kyiv during the Eurovision Song Contest and came 9th after the voting sequence at the end of the contest. JP and Eugene met the singer in the delegation hotel for an interview which airs on Radio International this week.   You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Tamara Gachechiladze (Georgia 2017): Georgia's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was by Tamara Gachechiladze with the song "Keep the Faith" which unfortunately did not qualify Georgia for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Though it almost qualified for the Grand Final as it ranked 11th in the Semi Final when only the Top Ten advance into the Grand Final. The song sounds very much like a James Bond Movie Theme. Tamara was part of the group that won the national final in Georgia back in 2009 when Georgia was disqualified with the song "We don't wanna put in" performed by Stephane and 3G. In 2017, it was Tamara's turn to represent Georgia and JP with Eugene met Tamara during the rehearsal weeks in Kyiv for an interview.  Listen to this interview on the show this week.  You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

Image Interview with Eduard Romanyuta (Moldova 2015):  Although being of Ukrainian decent Eduard Romanyuta represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "I want your love" back in Vienna. The song - like Georgia 2017 - only ranked 11th in the Semi Final 1 which failed to qualify Moldova for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. However, Eduard has been to the Eurovision Live Concert in 2015 and also appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 Press Centre where Radio International's JP and Eugene had the pleasure of an interview with the young singer. Listen to this interview on this week's edition of the show.   You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Claudia Faniello (Malta 2017):  Malta's Claudia Faniello tried with ten songs to win the Malta Eurovision Song Contest which is the selection process to find out with song and artist will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest. At long last it paid out as she won the Maltese national final earlier on in February with the song "Breathlessly" which unfortunately did not qualify Malta for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 Grand Final and remained in Semi Final 2 at Number 16. Claudia is a very diverse artist and sings many different genre. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

Montenegro did not qualify for the Grand Final of the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest, although the song is a great Euroclub Hit. JP and Eugene from Radio International caught up with Slavko for a follow on interview in Kyiv during the rehearsal week and chatted with the singer right after his press conference. The song "Space" received a total of 56 points in Semi Final 1 which is not enough to get into the Grand Final.  Slavko is a very interesting person and has a lot to say about his various projects he is involved in. Enjoy this interview on the show this week. You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

You can hear this interview on this week's edition of Radio International.  You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

Interview with ONUKA (Interval Act - Eurovision Song Contest 2017:  Like at every Eurovision Song Contest there are interval acts during the two Semi Finals to bridge the time for the televoters and juries to cast their votes. In Kyiv, besides interval acts Ruslana who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 for Ukraine and Jamala in 2016 another interval act was ONUKA which is a modern band. JP had the pleasure to chat with the main lady of the band to find out more about their music. Listen to the interview on this week's edition of Radio International for all the details of ONUKA.

ImageTribute to Sandra Reemer (Netherlands 1972, 1976 and 1979):  The Eurovision Family with sadness was informed about the tragic passing away of Sandra Reemer who represented the Netherlands four times in the Eurovision Song Contest.  In 1972 with "Als het om de liefte gaat" with Andres coming fourth. Then in 1976 Sandra represented the Kingdom of the Netherlands with "The Party is over now" coming nineth and in 1979 she reached Number 12 with "Colorado" as Xandra. In 1983, Sandra Reemer was the backing vocalist when Bernadette represented the Netherlands with the song "Sing me a song" that reached Number 7 in Munich, Germany. Further she appeared many times on German TV with her singing partner Andres. Further she hosted among other TV shows also the Dutch version of Wetten Dass ! (Do you want to bet?) - Wedden, dat! and was a founder member of the Dutch Divas. Radio International's JP had the big pleasure to meet Sandra various times and also interviewed her for Eurovision Radio International and the last time we hugged goodbye was in July 2016 when she was part of the guest line up of the Eurovision Weekend Berlin organised by a branch of OGAE Germany. Who would have thought that this was going to be a "Goodbye" for ever. Sandra will be greately missed and due to the very sad circumstances this week's edition of Eurovision Radio International on 07 June 2017 will devote a big part of the show time to a Tribute to Sandra "Xandra" Reemer and some of her songs and the last interview we did with her in Berlin in 2016. Sandra - Rest in Peace.  You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

ImageInterview with Martina Barta (Czech Republic 2017):  In 2016 the Czech Republic qualified for the Grand Final for the very first time with Gabriela Guncikova and the song "I stand" ranking at Number 25 at the end of the voting sequence. The Czech Republic's musical ambassador Martina Barta tried the same with a similar song called "My Turn" which unfortunately did not go the same way as in 2016. The Czech Republic placed 13th in Semi Final 1 when only the Top Ten advance for the Grand Final. Despite a hard day of rehearsals, press conferences and interviews Martina chatted with JP about her career and the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Listen to this interview on the show this week.  You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

Image Interview with Jacques Houdek (Croatia 2017):  The man with a big heart who represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "My Friend" that successfully qualified Croatia for the Grand Final and then at the end of the voting sequence reached Number 13 with a song performed in two different voices by Jacques Houdek who is a huge artist in Croatia. Radio International's JP and Eugene met the singer in the rehearsal week in Kyiv and did an interview which you can hear on the show this week.  You can also watch this interview on our YouTube Channel - click here

However, in recent years Ireland have not done well at the Eurovision Song Contest with four non-qualifications or low ranking in the Grand Final. Also this year unfortunately Ireland did not do well with young Brendan Murray who was nominated to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Dying to Try" which ranked 13th in the second Semi Final in Kyiv when only the Top Ten advance into the Grand Final. JP and Eugene met the young Irish singer for an interview during the rehearsal week in the Press Centre. Listen to this interview on this week's edition of Radio International.
